But of course, while I REALLY REALLY love my work, I complement my life with other things I love as a much or more:

About me

My "expertise" comes from a solid academic background in fisheries, food science and development studies, combined with my experience as a fisherman, boat builder, fisheries observer, quality control inspector, researcher adviser, and trainer over the last 22 years.

This 'insider' knowledge combined with my passion for the ocean and those who made a living from it, has allowed me to gain an in-depth understanding of the fisheries world, its method and most important, its people.

Having a strong practical background, I see myself as a hands-on and versatile person, which understands on one side, the theoretical and conceptual framework of development work, but on the other the challenges of its application to the realities of the field.

My work has offered me a wide international exposure, having participated and managed projects for development organizations, such as FAO, UNDP, AusAID, EU, EDF, ADB, SADC, USAID, GTZ, ITC and private companies in over 20 countries.

I am fluent in 4 languages, and comfortable in boats, villages, factories and boardrooms.
